Dual Credit Information

The counseling office would like to make you aware of an incredible opportunity for rising 11th and 12th graders.  Once again, FMHS will be offering Dual Credit courses next school year through USCL.  Dual Credit courses are taught at FMHS and by FMHS instructors.  These courses provide a great way to earn college credit, while also earning high school credit.  Here is a link for more information regarding classes, student eligibility, how to sign up, and more.

ASVAB
Students interested in taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) can sign up now through April 12th.  The test will be administered on April 15 at FMHS and begins at 8:40.  Click here to register!

College Credit Course Information

Students have several options for earning college credit during your time at FMHS.  Please see the information below for more specifics.

AP Courses
Advanced Placement (AP ) courses are rigorous classes to help students prepare for college.  Each AP course has a national exam students take in the spring.  If students have a qualifying test score, some colleges will look at awarding college credit for a particular course.  Students should talk with teachers if they wish to be recommended for a class. You can find more information about AP courses here.

Dual Credit
FMSD has partnered with USC -Lancaster to offer Dual Credit courses in four subject areas: DC Criminal Justice & Sociology, Dual Credit French, Dual Credit Spanish, and Dual Credit Theatre.  These classes count for both college credit and high school credit.  Students also can take a Dual Credit Teacher Cadet class through Winthrop when they are recommended by a teacher.
You can find more information about the Dual Credit courses, application information, and videos from teachers here.

York Tech Dual Enrollment
York Technical College offers dual enrollment courses in Automotive Collision and Repair, Building Construction and Trades, and Welding.  These classes count as student's elective choices for the year.  There will be an information session on March 16 at 6:00.  You can register here. You can find more information on the program and session here.
